Ebay sellers beware - 2006/02/16 14:37
If you are selling goods via a website or on eBay, etc, beware of the following scam (read from the bottom up):
Dear Mr Apostle
Thank you for your e-mail. It is not my policy to cash foreign cheques from sources not known to me since, as I am sure you are aware, it would lay me open to being a party to illegal practices. I am therefore returning your cheque by post to the address you have provided. Should you still wish to purchase any CDs I suggest you open a PayPal account, which is very easy to do, and purchase via the website in the usual way.
Regards
Maggie Hall

Hello maggie,
Thanks for your concern. You are not making mistakes.i was very annoyed when i got to know that the secretary that typed the name on the cheque made a great mistake. She had sent you a cheque that is meant for one of our suppliers.
The only thing you could do for me is to cash the money, deduct your charges and shipping cost and send the reminder to my office here in Africa through the western union money transfer immediately you cash the money, because our suppliers have been bothering us.
concerining the forwarding address, since i am currently in Africa,i have no permanent residence.you can send it through FEDEXand address it to:
YEMI TITIRI c/o
FEDEX ABEOKUTA
UAC COMPLEX,IBARA,
ABEOKUTA,OGUN STATE
NIGERIA.
234-8028701546.
Thanks
Hello Mr Apostle (please advise if I am addressing you correctly).
Thank you for your order and cheque which I have received today. However, I am a little puzzled about the amount. You have ordered one dozen (twelve) CD sets. At £23 per set this comes to £276, but your cheque is for £4,500. This amount of money would buy you 195 CD sets. Could you clarify whether you require 12 or 195 sets, please?
I have also just noticed that you have not provided an address to which to forward the CDs.
Regards
Maggie Hall

I think the best thing is if you order by post using the attached form. Please accompany your order with a cheque for the correct amount made payable to M E Hall. I will dispatch the CDs on receipt of payment. It would be better if I sent them to you to forward on to your sister as I have no idea what I would have to charge you for postal costs to Africa.
